Chance and Amy are married!

Stephen and Chance-friends since birth. Stephen was an usher at the wedding.
This was the second of three weddings for us this summer. Next will be Carrie and Jarrod in July in Shreveport. Other news, Stephen started school Friday. He had a day of orientation. He starts class tomorrow! Check back tomorrow for his official "first day of school" picture. He will be in class all day Monday through Thursday. The semester ends August 5. He is excited to start but very nervous. Please pray for him this week as he starts this new chapter in his life.

Bug spray time!

So if you had told me when I started nursing school that I would have a job that required bug spray and a GPS, I would have laughed! So its officially summer and HOT when you are doing home health. I have already been to the pool twice this week! I also had my first tick on me this week! Scary! Great now I have another bug bite after my mystery bug bite last week. My doctor told me to really watch for ticks this year. Stephen and I have both already had one! Crazy! I have to say I do miss the air conditioning and bug free atmosphere of the hospital. However, I still love my job and would not trade it for anything. Well I need to head to the office to finish up some work and then headed to Tuscaloosa for Chance and Amy's wedding. Will post a couple pictures later this weekend so you can see Stephen in his tux

Totally addicted...

If you have not tried it, you need to. I go during happy hour and make it diet (using diet sprite--which uses up alot less weight watchers points. woohoo!)

What makes us happy

My new bathroom: My friend Tara knows how much I hate my bathroom in our rental house. We have years of wallpaper covered by years of paint. I had a shower curtain that was okay and was actually a hand-me-down that I just put up when we moved in. I had intended to replace it but never got around to it. Tara painted her bathroom and her shower curtain no longer matched. She brought me her old one last week and told me to use it. I said sure! Never turn down anything free! I went to Fred's tonight to complete the look with a new rug, shower rod, and shower curtain hooks. I love it and it makes me happy. Also the stripes distract from the horrible walls! woohoo! We will be so glad when we are out of this house and this tiny tiny bathroom. Thanks Tara!
This picture: This picture used to hang in the bathroom at my grandmother's house. It was in an old wooden frame. When I changed the shower curtain tonight, I decided to dig a nicer frame out of the closet to replace the old wooden frame. Now I still have the picture that I love but in a new updated form. Thanks Gramma!!

Baby birds: Stephen has been watching this nest of baby birds that have been living under our dinning room window. This morning we thought we saw the last one learn to fly and finally leave the nest. But, Stephen found it hopping around the yard tonight still not really sure about the whole flying thing. Maybe he will get the hang of it soon.

New Cake

The birthday cake pictures that I promised earlier. Made this for a co-worker's mom who they had a surprise party for tonight. Hope she had a great birthday and enjoyed the cake.

update for my mom

So I was told I needed to update. This has been a typical week with work and a couple cake orders. One was for a surpise party so I will post a picture tonight after the party is over (dont want to ruin the surprise). Tara and I had a yard sale this morning at my house. I have a great yard for it. We did not advertise before today and we had a great crowd. Sometimes there is an advantage to living where the whole town drives by your house everyday. Tara did really well and got some good spending money for her trip to Seatle (please can I go?). I didn't do so well with a grand total of $8.10! woohoo! But I really did not have but a couple things out that were left over from the last garage sale. Im on call this weekend and supposed to be headed to see a patient right now but the weather decided to start acting up. So, Im sitting here waiting for the severe weather warnings to go away so I can get back on the road. Check back later for the cake pictures.

Tara's birthday week

So we spent last week celebrating Tara's birthday with a couple surprise parties and of course a trip to Tuscaloosa to eat Japanese. Had a blast spending time with friends and now Tara has joined us in the "Oh no we are 25" club! Welcome! Hope we don't have to wait until my birthday to go back to eat Japanese! Happy Birthday, Tara! Hey, when can I borrow that cute purse you got? He He!

Retirement cake

Made this for a co-worker's father in-law who is retiring. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. First time doing the basket weave technique. Still need lots of practice.
