ahhh! our neighbors

So our neighbors had a party this weekend, have had friends parking all out in the street and apparently got drunk and rolled their own yard. genius!! Now the toilet paper has blown into our yard and gotten soaked by the rain so it is total mess! Yesterday they also decided to start shooting fireworks...while it was still daylight. Again...genius! Anyway, so tonight I was getting aggravated hearing them hollering from across the street so I got on my favorite house plans website and started looking. It seems that that always motivates us to pick up one of our many books or get online and check out some houses. There are so many choices. I keeping saving ones that I like and then go back weeks later and cannot remember what it was that i liked. This is the outside that I liked today, of course not crazy about the inside layout. Oh well, I think I am cross eyed from looking at it for the last hour. Ill change my mind again tomorrow. Well, Im off to bed so I can get up early and get on the road to see some patients. Night!

Christmas Day

Wow, we have had a busy few days. I was on call so we had to stay in Alabama (much to the dismay of my family). We started our celebrations at Stephen's grandparents (Richards) on Christmas Eve with dinner and presents. Then Christmas morning, Stephen and I had some time to open our gifts to each other and enjoy some sausage balls and coffee. Then we ran to the in-laws for more presents and fun. Then we all piled in the cars and headed to West Point where we had Christmas lunch with the Mays. It was a great day, relaxing. We ate way too much and are sure to enjoy the leftovers for a couple more days. We will be heading to Baton Rouge next week to spend New Years with my family and also my cousin will be getting married so it will be another busy weekend. Cant wait to see everyone and enjoy Christmas with yall! I also have to add that it was so nice to not have to go to the hospital to work any this holiday. I used to cry everytime I had to drive to Fayette to work on any holidy whether it was Christmas eve or Presidents Day. I hated that part and would always question my job choice. I chose nursing so that I would have flexiblity and a family life and I just could not see that happening with that job. It seemed like I was always working or sleeping or so tired I could not enjoy the holiday. This year even though I was on call we were able to do everything we would normally do here with Stephen's family and I was awake for all of it haha! I just really really really love this home health job. I enjoy my co-workers. I LOVE my schedule and that I really can put my family before my job as a nurse. Dont get me wrong, I love being a nurse but there is much more to life than your career! Ok, ill get off my soap box. We are headed to Columbus to hit the after Christmas sales!!

Oh Well,

So much for the blizzard. All we got was a nasty rain/snow mix. I was able to scoop a little snow up off Stephen's truck but it was not even enough for a good snowball. But now worries, we still have plenty of winter left to see some more snow.

Snow!!!!!!

This is what I want to see when I look out my window tonight. I doubt it will happen though. I cannot believe Baton Rouge got 4 inches this morning. It has been raining here for 2 days and has not let up. I finished work early due to the wet roads and flooding we have here and Stephen is off today so I guess we are just going to chill this afternoon and watch some movies while we check the weather every five minutes to find out the E.T.A. of the snow! Keeping my fingers crossed!

What Happens In Life Group Stays In Life Group

So we had our Life Group Christmas party last night. Thanks so much to the Barksdales for letting us take over your house for the night. We ate way to much food and played Dirty Santa. We all ended up with some great gifts and there was not much blood shed. We also busted out the Cranium board. This was so much fun to just cut up and enjoy the fellowship. But of course the best part was that the girls won!! woohoo! Have a good week guys! See you Sunday! Stephen and I feel so blessed to be a part of Mt. Vernon and part of such a great small group! Ready to start next semester! (just click on the picture to make it large enough to see)

SEC Championship

Yes, I know, but LSU is not playing so I can pull for Bama and everyone will just have to get over it! Im ready for today's game. Hope it ends like we want. It should be fun. We are ending the season the same way we started, by watching it with our friends, Jim and Tara and pigging out on some pizza. Hope the boys are ready for a fight but if worse comes to worse at least they beat the pants off Auburn. Ha! Ha! Bryan...what was the score again? I forgot. Haha!

So I made it through my 25th birthday. We had a great day. Went to church and then to the movies to see Four Christmases. It was soooo funny! A good start to the holiday season. We then just hung out at the house and I tried to figure out how to change up my blog. Hope you like the new look. Im sure Ill change it again soon. We ended the night at the in-laws. My wonderful mom in-law made me supper! It was so good! Then we all just sat around and watched The Amazing Race. Cant wait to see the final episode next week. I still dont know who to pull for. Well, that is all. We go back to work tomorrow (yuck). I think Im going to re-read my birthday cards and wishes on Facebook before I head off to bed.

Birthday

Well in a few short hours I will be turning 25. I was dreading this birthday but the more I thought about it the less I started dreading it. I am very happy with my life right now. I am married to my soul mate who I love more and more everyday. I have a job that I love with a great group of women that I enjoy getting to see everyday. I could go on and on but you get the picture. I am proud to turn 25 tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a relaxing day. We are going to church in the morning and then to see a movie. Then we are going to have dinner with Stephen's family. It should be a great day! Im sure I will post some pictures later. Oh yeah, and ROLL TIDE! That game was awsome!

Sundays

Because we go to church 45 minutes from our house, we have to hang out until we have Bible study on Sunday night. Thank goodness we have such awesome friends that let us crash on their couch and even offer their guest room for a Sunday nap. We were killing time the other day playing the Wii and watching movies. Tara snapped this picture of us spending "quality time" together. haha. Stephen was playing Solitaire while I was editing photos on my computer. We love that we have friends like Jim and Tara that are so much fun and so welcoming. We feel at home at their house and hope they do at ours too. Thanks guys! We love yall!

Miss State vs Bama

We went to the Bama game this weekend. I know what you are thinking..but it was freezing and you are a LSU fan. But we have so much fun and I did cheer for Bama really loud Saturday. It was a great game despite the weather. I was bundled up in several layers and was still frozen by the time we left. I cant believe the season Bama is having this year. 11-0 now! Anyway, here are a few pictures from the game. Enjoy!

On the way to the game, showing off my new hat that I bought at target for only $1.50 before that game.
Jim and Tara before the game
Stephen and Casey before the game

This was my reaction when they decided to show clips from the LSU/Bama game to "pump up" the crowd. It did not work for me! Then the people behind us started discussing every detail of that game. Will you people ever stop!!!ahhh! You won! I know! Get over it!

The Results...

Well, my tigers put up a really good fight but the Bama Tide got the victory. It was hard to watch and I was a nervous wreck by the end. But I have to say that everyone was a good sport. They just need to watch out for next year! Now I just have to listen to it for a whole year!! Maybe we can go to the game next year.

"THE" football game

Well, today is that day that comes around once a year. No, its not Christmas...Its the day that LSU plays Bama!!! Im very excited and will soon have all of my LSU gear on. Stephen and I are already trash talking each other. He really wants Bama to win just so he does not have to hear my family rag him. I really want LSU to win cause I think Bama needs it to be reminded that they are not the only SEC team that knows how to play football! We will be watching the game with friends (who yes are Bama fans--so please pray for me!) I will be pulling for my team no matter what but I have to say I am nervous with the way each team has played so far this year. Im sure I will post later today or tomorrow with my feelings on the results. Everyone needs to watch at 2:30!!! (and pull for my team!!!)

Trunk-N-Treat

We had a Bama Tailgating theme for Trunk-n-Treat tonight at church. Mainly because Jim and Tara had all the stuff we needed and no one had to by anything. Some kids would not even take our candy because of the Bama stuff. Haha! They just kept running by and yelling "GO BULLDOGS" It was alot of fun and there were some really cute costumes. This picture below was my favorite of them all. I gave him a ton of candy. I think i kind of freaked him out cause I got so excited when he came up to our booth. Who would have guess you would see this in Columbus?

Family Birthdays

So this week is Mr. Mark's and Chase's birthdays. We already celebrated Saturday night with a bonfire but I decided to make a pot of gumbo and have more cake and ice cream last night. I got a friend of mine to make this cake for them which looks like one of Mr. Mark's tractors. He loved it! It was so good too! Although the Richards do not do birthdays like Pourciaus, Im getting them to celebrate a little more each year and this time I got them to spread out the celebration to a week! Progress! Since Halloween is Friday that means that Casey's Birthday Season officially starts Saturday! Yea! Im ready!

What was your favorite part of the weekend?

We had a busy weekend...again! I spent most of the day Saturday painting my new china cabinet. Ill post a picture of it soon. Leigh and her friend Kristy came over Saturday to cook us a Vegan dinner and have some fall fun. They made a big pot of lentil soup, greek salad and baked apples. It was all really good! After dinner we went out on the porch and carved some pumpkins. Can you look at the pumpkins above and tell who did each pumpkin. One was mine, one was my friend Tara and then one was Leigh's. I think it is pretty obvious. To see more pictures, check out my facebook. Have a good week. Im off to bed! Night!

Fireproof

We had a wonderful weekend! I was not on call (yea!) and decided to hit some garage sales with my mom-in-law. I was actually up by 7:30 Saturday which I know is hard to believe. We found some amazing deals and I finally found a china cabinet for my kitchen that I have been looking for. All it needs is a little paint and some knew knobs on the drawers. Im very excited to have more storage! We also went through our junk and started a garage sale pile. The Richards are having one next week and I figured it was a good time to clean out the closets. Stephen hates getting rid of stuff. He always says "You never know when you will need it." I want to chunk it all! Im finally rubbing off on him though and he put a few things in the pile. Im so proud! Of course we watched Bama play (and win!). Sunday we had a great time of worship in church and then went to see Fireproof with our friends, the Blakes. Everyone that is married neeeeeeedddssss to go see it. There is something in it for everyone. I was crying by the end along with everyone else in the theater. It was so nice to be sitting in a movie theater and watching a good movie that was clean and had Christain music and actually shared the gospel in the story line. This will definitly be one that we add to our collection as soon as it comes out. It really is a great reminder of how we need to treat our spouse and really value our marriage and make it a priority but always keep your realtionship with God first. I really cannot say enough about this film. Please go see it and support it so we will get more movies like this.
One another note, we are headed to Baton Rouge this Friday. Im so ready to see some Pourciaus and get a hug from my grandparents! Im really looking forward to our Sunday family lunch. I miss them all so much. Ill post some pictures next week when we get home!

LSU vs Auburn

So to show that my family Im still a LSU fan at heart I decided to throw a LSU party Saturday night for our friends Jim and Tara. I just wanted to hangout, watch the game and spread a little Louisiana culture in Alabama. I made a big pot of Jambalaya and we had french bread and salad and enjoyed the game. I was a nervous wreck the whole time and was screaming my head off at the tv, but we had a blast (especially since LSU won) I have tried not to rub it in too much here in Alabama but it is just so hard! Here are some pictures of us representin' our teams and a picture of my table decorations. It is hard to find anything LSU here so I had to be a little creative. There is only so many purple and yellow things sold here in Bama country. I love watching football and glad that we have friends that can enjoy it with us. Hope yall have a good week! We are just busy as usual and working. I have to take call this weekend for the first time and Im a little nervous. Hope it goes smoothly!

HAPPY FALL, Y'ALL! It felt so good when I walked outside this morning. It was so nice not to be sweating all day at work! I was so excited about the weather, I decided to make chili for supper. It was so good. I have been waiting for the first day that was not 1000 degrees so that I could make some homemade chili. We already have plans to go to a pumpkin patch and several more football games. Ill post pictures when we carve pumpkins. Im even going to get mums Saturday for my porch. Basically, Im excited and wanted to share it.

New Job

Most of you know that I changed jobs this summer. I have been in orientation for my home health job for a couple months. This week I was finally able to go out on my own. I was so nervous when I got up the first morning. I have made it so far, only getting slightly lost one time. I really enjoy being in the home and seeing and being a part of my patients' everyday lives. It has really reminded me why I enjoyed community nursing in school plus my stress level has definitely decreased. I am enjoying being home with Stephen at night and sleeping regular hours. I feel like I have re-joined the real world again. Just wanted to give everyone an update.

Our First Bama Game

So we went to our first Alabama football game this Saturday. My family kept telling me that they knew I would be the first to turn! We met up with our friends Jim and Tara and tailgated some. We had great seats with shade and a great view. The game was alot of fun too. Bama did not play that great but was still able to pull off a win. After the game we sat around in the Quad and grilled out some more. It was a great time of fellowship and dont worry Pourciaus, I wore purple toenail polish and even took a picture of the LSU flag they had flying at the stadium. I cannot wait till LSU plays Bama. I hope they beat them agian this year! GEAUX TIGERS. I might start pulling for Bama as long as they are not playing my tigers.

Ashley's Wedding

So far only one girl has been brave enough to be a roommate of the two Pourciau sisters and that is Ashley Davis. We went to Muscle Shoals Saturday to see her get married. It was a very sweet wedding and Ashley looked beautiful! I could still eat another piece of that yummy cake :)

Gustav

I cannot stop watching the weather channel, CNN, and FOX! This storm is causing such flashbacks to 3 years ago. I was blessed then to be in school in Mississippi and safe but just not being able to get in touch with family was so hard. Im nervous about this again. Im praying that everyone is safe and we are able to be in touch. To all my Louisiana family, I miss yall and love yall!! Be safe and call and check in when you can!

Trying this again...

Well, here we go again. This did not last long the first time but someone (mainly Tara) said that I need to start again. Just to fill you in we are still in Vernon. I just started a new job working as a home health nurse for the state of Alabama. Stephen is still at Vernon Machine. Most of you know that Stephen was sick last weekend and we spent most of the weekend in the ER and doctor's office. He is now feeling much better and I am so glad that they were able to identify the problem. His medicine is really working and I am so glad to have my husband back laughing and smiling this weekend. We spent the afternoon pulling up our garden (boo) and getting ready for fall. I cannot wait to feel the fall weather and put out my fall wreath and smell a pumpkin candle burning. Well, this should catch you up. We will be posting again soon!
