We went to Stephen's school campus tonight for an awards ceremony/banquet. My sweetie got two awards. One for being a Bevill Scholar which is given to super smart people on campus. Then he got an award for top student in his department. His professor said the nicest things about him. Saying how he is already working two jobs in drafting and going to school. He also mentioned how Stephen is actually graduating from two different schools this May since he is finishing up his first degree also. Yes, Im married to a genius! I was so proud! Stephen was beyond embarrassed by the whole thing but I think he totally deserves the recognition. He has worked very hard the last few years and has kept a 4.0 the entire time. The best part was as we were leaving Stephen over heard a group of other students saying about him "there goes that guy that makes us look so bad. 2 jobs and a 4.0! Gah!" hehehe! Three weeks from today we will see him walk across the stage to get his diploma. Can't wait! Pretty sure this pregnant lady will cry. Can't believe he is almost done!

Jim Turns 30!!

Jim turned 30 this week!! We are all getting so OLD!! When did this happen?!? Anyway, we tried to celebrate Friday night but the major storms killed that plan. So we all got together at the Blakes Saturday night for tacos and cake and ice cream. I made the cake.

Happy Birthday Brad

Our friend Brad turned the big 3-0 this week. We celebrated last night at his family's cabin out in the middle of nowhere. It was a great time of fellowship.

Something I never thought would happen

So for his birthday, Stephen asked his parents and brother to go eat Japanese with us. This is Stephen's favorite food by far but it is something he would have never even tried before he met me. Well, we have been talking about getting them to go with us for awhile. His dad and brother were very hesitant because of an unfortunate chinese buffet experience that I had talked them into. They have since forgiven me so its all good!

Here we go. The chef had just walked to the table I love all their expressions. They look like they are trying to decide if this was a good idea.

Overall they loved the food (just not the sushi). They even took home leftovers and agreed to go back with us! It was a success! Next thing you know I will get them all to get passports. The possibilities are endless!!

Guess who is old!?!

Stephen had a birthday yesterday! Happy Birthday, baby! We did not do much celebrating yesterday. We both had to work then I had a doctors appointment. I did make him dinner last night. Chicken and dumplings and sweet and sour green beans. Turned out pretty good. Then after dinner we curled up on the couch and watched Despicable Me. It was funny. The last two movies we have gotten from Netflix have been cartoons. Haha!

Birthday chair covers make me happy!

Yes, I make cakes all the time but Stephen would rather have a big bowl of banana pudding for dessert. So...thats what he got. This was the first time I had ever made it. I even made his mom's recipe because of course that is his favorite. It turned out pretty good. We still have a ton left. Don't know why I made the whole recipe. Should have just made half of it. Oh well, guess we will have some more for lunch today.

We are going to go out tonight and have dinner with his family. This will be their first time to have Japanese. This should be interesting. I will try to get some pictures.

Update

Sorry I have been neglecting my blog. We have been busy! We celebrated New Years with my parents. They came for a visit. It was lots of eating and napping and hanging out. It was pouring rain New Years Eve so we weren't able to do fireworks but that was fine. We were all in bed before midnight. It was a fun relaxing visit.

Can you believe it has snowed again!!???? We got a huge storm Sunday night. We both had snow days Monday and Tuesday. We walked outside Monday morning early and walked around the yard but it was freezing so we didn't stay out there long. It has been so cold that we still have snow and ice. The schools here have been closed all week. It was pretty Monday morning but we are so over the ice now! Ready for it to go! Tired of my carport being iced over every morning and night. This morning it was only 14 when I woke up! Brrrrr!

Other big news is Stephen just started a new job last week. He is working in the engineering dept at a local plant. He loves it so far and is glad to get to use the skills he has been learning in school for last two years.

Our good friends the Blakes welcomed their baby girl into the world on 1/2/11. She is beautiful and perfect! We have enjoyed loving on her and then giving her right back to her mommy when she starts to cry. To see pictures of her check my facebook.

I think that is about it. OHHHH! Wait, there is one more thing!

We are expecting! We found out back in November but have been keeping that little secret to ourselves until last week. I will not be putting any baby updates on this blog due to it being so public.
