Happy Birthday week to Tara!

So last night we had a surprise birthday dinner for Tara at her grandparents' house. Her grandmother made a great supper and I ate way too much. Here are the pictures of the cake that we made for Tara. This was my first time to do scroll work. It is a work in progress but as not as difficult as I thought it would be. Ill have to keep practicing. Im going to work on my basket weave technique today so that I can use it on a cake tomorrow that was ordered for a retirement party. Ill post some pictures later this week of that cake. Going to Market Street Festival this weekend. Should be alot of fun. Ready for the weekend already and its only Wednesday.

So this summer we will be running the roads going to several weddings. Stephen and I are both in weddings this summer. Anyway, we needed to get Stephen some more dress clothes for the rehearsals and weddings. We picked some up the other night (P.S JcPenny is having a really good sale). Last night I asked Stephen to go try on his new clothes to make sure they fit. He came back in the den dressed like this. HaHa! If you know my husband at all, you would know that this did not suprise me at all!!! He then ran and got the camera and said "Take my picture so I can put it on facebook". He has only been on facebook for a few days and is already addicted. Just wanted to share the craziness that I live with. Would not change it for anything :)

Sick

So this is day 3 being home from work. AHH! Im so bored. I have not had an ear infection this bad since I was a preschooler. And this time my mom was not there to hold my hand while they gave me a shot :( They put me on enough antibiotics to cure a horse's ear infection. My fever finally broke this morning so maybe I can go back to work tomorrow. There is only so much facebook and blogging a girl can take before she is just bored out of her mind.

Stephen got glasses today! After much encouragement from his wonderful wife. It has been obvious for a few months that he needed to get his vision checked but Stephen HATES when people touch his eyes. He wont even let me put eye drops in his eyes without freaking out. We went Friday afternoon for his appointment and they ordered his glasses. They called today to say they were ready, just in time for his test he has to take tomorrow for school. I think they make him look even more ready for school. He goes to register for classes tomorrow. Getting ready to get back in the school schedule. Please pray for him as he takes this next step in his life.

Golf Ball Cake

Made this cake this weekend for Jim's birthday. It was the first one I have made completely in my kitchen. I usually use my mom-in-laws kitchen. I have about 2 feet of kitchen counter space so it was frustrating at times. Especially when I also had the crockpot plugged in taking up some of my valuable space. But, anyway, I got it finished. I was using a new pan that allowed me to have two different flavored cakes inside. It was half chocolate and have vanilla. Turned out better than I had thought it would. I was just glad he could tell it was a golf ball. Haha! Happy Birthday, Jim!

Finally

It is finished! Finally! Not the best roofing job we have ever seen but just really glad it is over since they were up there before 7 this morning. Yuck! its Saturday and I had been excited to sleep past 7. Oh well, there is always next weekend. So happy not to hear men running around on our roof anymore! Woohoo! Just finished another cake. Ill post pictures soon. Happy Easter!

Day 12...

New Roof

So our landlord decided to put a new roof on our house. They started on it 10 days ago while we were in Louisiana. Came home to a yard covered in shingles and ropes and extension cords. We had no idea this would be happening but should not be surprised because Mr. Charles usually does not tell us anything. Anyway, they are still working on it today. I mean, come on!! It does not take 10 days to put a roof on a 1,000 square foot house!!!! They work and then they stop and have lunch, which then they leave their trash on my porch! AHHH! Im only slighlty annoyed as you can tell. I just overheard them saying they are about to stop for the day because they have already gotten so much done. It is only 12:45! Okay, rant is over for now. Maybe we will have the new roof by Easter! Ill let you know when it happens.

Look what was in my yard yesterday

This chicken was in our yard all day yesterday! I was cool with it until he got on top of my car and then slid down the front and scratched it! ahh! Stephen literally chased it out of the yard 3 or 4 times and it kept coming back. I know I dont live in a metropolis but still I live a block from city hall! Who knows where it came from? Who knows where it went? I have a feeling Stephen probably took care of it when I was not looking. Poor chicken :(

Stump Cake

A co-worker ordered this cake for her husband who works at a sawmill. It turned out better than I thought and she said that he really loved it! She already ordered another cake for May! Yea!
