See I do more than make cakes lately

We went to Shreveport this weekend with the Blakes. It was a ton of fun and was so nice to take a few days with my parents and friends. It was a weekend full of events. To see the pictures, click on the link below which will take you to my facebook album:

Dora The Explorer

Our first character cake, Dora the Explorer. Made it tonight for a little girl who is turning 4! She is going to take it to daycare Friday to share with her friends. I just hope the kids at daycare can tell who it is. I hope she likes it! Happy Birthday, Tezzie!

First Birthday Cakes!!!!

So this week we had our first birthday cake orders. I was stressing trying to get everything done along with the Valentine orders but it all got finished late last night. Today we delivered the cakes to the party. The batman cake was for a little boy named Mason. He is hilarious and always cracks me up when I am around him. His mom had been telling him that she ordered him a Barbie cakes so he was THRILLED when I opened the car and he saw the Batman cake. His excitement made it all worth it. Happy Birthday Mason! Maybe I can do your cake next year too :)

We also made a cake for Mason's big brother, Adam. He is turning 18. His mom wanted to surprise him with a James Bond cake. The chocolate icing smelled so good and it was hard not to eat it while I decorated it last night. This was my attempt at doing the 007 symbol. We had to go to plan Z to get it on the cake but it worked and I learned several things while making this cake. We are also going to be doing Adam's graduation cake in May. Cant wait!

Valentine's Day

I just wanted to thank my sweet husband for surprising me with roses today! I was shocked when I walking in from work and found them on the coffee table. It was such a nice surprise after my stressful week. I love you!! Cant wait to celebrate Valentine's Day on Monday (and for the rest of you, no, our calendar is not wrong. We just don't have time to celebrate before then). We finished all of our cakes tonight (13 total for this week!!) I will post pictures soon so check back.

Cookie Cakes

So this started as a request from a co-worker and and has turned into this huge order for next week. I mentioned to another nurse today that I was going to make a cookie cake for a valentines gift for someone in our office and she asked if she could order one too. Of course, Im not going to turn down more orders. Next thing I know I have 10 orders for cookie cakes for Valentines Day! I called Mrs Debbie and asked if she was sitting down. She just laughed when I told her and she said "Bring it on." So for the next week, if you need me I will be working home health or making cakes or going to class or answering the on-call phone cause this is also my week to be on-call during the hours that our office is closed. Yea me! Haha! I just told Stephen he will have to take me out for Valentines Day another weekend cause after next Saturday Im sure I will be too tired to go out. Besides I hate going out on Valentines and fighting the crowds. I would much rather go out a different night.

I really enjoy doing this and we have already had several orders for birthday cakes! Exciting! We are going to Tuscaloosa tomorrow to look for some fondant and look at some cake pans. Here are the pictures from last night:
