Bham (twice)

So I have been to Birmingham TWICE this weekend! We went yesterday morning to the Apple store to get my Macbook. I decided that if I was paying that much money, I wanted to take my old laptop and have all my photos and documents transferred over. Well, that meant going back today and picking both computers up. Boo! But that meant, I got to have a fun day in Bham yesterday with Stephen and then went back today with Tara for another fun afternoon. Well the Summit has a new restaurant, Chuy's. I had heard about it on a blog that I follow. Amanda lived in Nashville where there is also a Chuy's, and she always blogged about how much she loved their food. So when I saw it, I knew we had to go. I told Stephen, "Amanda said this place is awesome!" He said, "Who?" ha ha sorry, I live in my blog world sometimes. Anyway, we went and IT WAS AWSOME!!!!! I am hooked! The best mexican I have EVER eaten! And that says alot because I have eaten alot of different places. We had the fajitas and they were not disappointing! We pigged out! Oh and the best part, Tara and I went back tonight! Ha! I had the steak burrito. It was so big, I could only eat 1/3. Stephen is taking the rest to school for lunch tomorrow.

The view from the Summit. Who knew you could have a view like this when shopping?!

Now I'm totally exhausted. I really need to go to bed but can't get off my computer. I will have to finish learning how to use it tomorrow after work. I see many blog post this week :0)

Tebow Tailgate

Thursday night we went to the the Tebow Tailgate- the annual banquet to raise money for LifeChoices Pregnancy Care Center. Pam Tebow was the keynote speaker. It was a great night. We ran into Ms. Rita Land who went to our church in Louisville. We got to visit with her during dinner.
I actually met Pam in the bathroom the first time I talked to her that night! Ha ha! She was so nice and told me that she loved my dimples because they made her miss her daughter that also has them. She saw Stephen's Bama polo and was quick to say that her suit was not crimson but red!
Taking a re-re picture when we got home. Stephen is so lucky to be married to a purty lady like me! Ha ha
Stephen won the door prize from Purple Elephant...so that meant I won it! It was a super cute travel jewelry organizer which is actually something I really needed. Thanks, babe!
This is for Leigh. Does this outfit work for not wearing leggins as pants? What do you think?
It was a nice night to visit with friends, hear a great speaker and raise money for a great cause!

I got a MacBook!!

I am currently blogging on my very new (like hours old) MacBook! I will have to take pictures of it soon. Tara and I decided to play on the photobooth as soon as we got back home with it. Here are a few of those for your viewing pleasure:

Game Day

We stayed home this weekend....ALL weekend! I mean seriously! I was in my pjs 80% of the weekend! This never never happens. I was restless Friday night but by hubby loves to be a homebody so I toughed it out. Actually by Saturday I was totally relaxed and enjoying not rushing around. We watched all the ballgames Saturday night. Stephen's family came over and at one time we were watching the Bama game, the LSU game and also the NASCAR race. Even though we were staying home for the game we still had to have a spread to munch on.

Using the paper goods I got 80% off at Target at the end of last football season! Score!
This was the best veggie dip. Click here to see the recipe.
Life is just better when you make peanut butter brownies! Yum! I have posted this recipe before but here it is again. I threw some M&Ms on top this time.
Stephen requested hot dogs. I did not feel like doing regular hot dogs with all the fixins so we made these instead. So easy and easy to eat and watch the game. Although, they did not reheat well the next day for lunch. They totally exploded! ha ha but they still tasted good just not as pretty.

Working hard all week. We are going to the Tebow Tailgate Banquet to raise money for Life Choices Pregnancy Center this week. Very excited to hear Pam Tebow speak and support Tara.
Stephen has his first test of the semester tomorrow so say a quick prayer.
On other news, very excited that I might get my new Macbook this weekend! I see lots of blog post coming soon!

Oldie but Goodies

While we were at my grandparents this weekend we dug through some old pictures. I took photos of the photos and this is just a few of them.
My dad holding me:
Poppa holding me:
Gramma holding me: (by the way I was the first grandchild so I was kinda a big deal)
My grandmother and great aunt. You can see where I get my long legs from:
The one in the black sweater is Poppa. This was the gang he hung out with:
This is a photo of Clark Gable. My great grandmother was his waitress when he was filming a movie in Baton Rouge in the 50's. He autographed this for her. Leigh found this this weekend also.
This is one of my favorites. It is of my great grandparents (behind the counter) in their restaurant. This was taken when they won the Golden Cup Award for their coffee. This is the first one I have ever seen of their restaurant.
This was my parents first Christmas together:
Poppa and his boys. Wow the outfits!
Mom, Aunt Terri, Gramma and me (check out that purple track suit I have on). By the way I still get this exactly look on my face even as an adult. This is usually the look I give when Im completely over whatever is going on aka "I tired a dis"

There are several more photos that I have saved. I would love to get some of them printed soon. I love these treasures. Reminds me of where we have been as a family and makes me look forward to what is to come. Im so blessed to be apart of this big (sometimes very noisy) family. We really enjoyed getting to spend time together this weekend and celebrate the two that have made the Pourciaus who they are today.

Happy 50th Anniversary to Poppa and G

This weekend we went to Baton Rouge to celebrate my grandparent's golden anniversary. It was a great weekend of relaxing and visiting with family.

50 years ago:

Now (just as cute):

Spent alot of time swinging in the yard and enjoying the not so hot weather.
We also celebrated Dad's birthday. He was born on his parents 1st anniversary. My grandmother made a yummy banana cake with cream cheese icing:

Pourciau/Winters- we enjoyed seeing yall! Miss you already! Love you!

Time to Tailgate

Since we have become friends with the Blakes, tailgating has become a major part of our fall schedule. We tailgate for every game whether on campus or at our house in our den. It is part of the experience. Here is a look at how we do it and some of my favorite recipes that I like to use when tailgating.
At the game:
Making our own party at home. Who needs the Quad?:
When we stay home for the game we often have chicken and sausage gumbo with rice and garlic bread. This is a winter time staple at our house. I often make a big batch and freeze it for later:
I made these last year for the first game. Saw them on cakecentral.com and just played around with different icing tips until I got the look I wanted. I think I will definitely need to make these again this year to take to a game:

7 layer Mexican Dip is a must. Stephen loves this and could make a meal out of it. There are many different recipes. I change it up every time I make it. Depends on what ingredients look the best when I make it:
I made these little bites of bacon heaven this year for the Super Bowl. I will be making these again this year. Very easy and very good! Click here to see the recipe:
See we have to make it pretty even if we are watching from the den. Bought all of the football goodies 75% off after a season at Target:

We are missing the first game tomorrow. We have other plans. Don't worry Jim and Tara; we will go soon! Cant believe football season is here again. Time for every Saturday's schedule to revolve around ESPN. There will be many more football pics to follow in the next few months! Ready to see what our favorite teams will do.

Happy Birthday, Daddio!

Happy Birthday to my Dad!! I love you!! Can't wait to see you. Hope you enjoyed your birthday present. Did Mom and Boudin treat you right today?!?

Happy September

Its finally September!!! Ready to say goodbye to summer! So tired of the heat and sweating all day! Yuck! I hate it. The only thing I like about summer is swimming and the occasional snow cone. Anyway, just thought I would take a moment to tell you my favorite things about September:

1. Fall decorations! I have been wanting to get them out since August but have held off so far. I did tell Stephen that I will get them out next week. As soon as I pack up my white shoes (Not that I actually have white shoes- well one pair of flipflops), I have to pull out the fall decorations! Im very excited about my new door hanger that I recently purchased. Don't worry, I will post a picture as soon as it is up.
2. Cider: This one is for Stephen. He drinks this ALLLLLL the time when the fall hits! He is crazy for it. I can't keep it in my house. I only drink it at home due to my stupid allergies now. I have to know whats in it. Oh and by the way, can I just say how much ginger is in all fall foods! I mean come on!! I have even made my own pumpkin pie spice so I can make recipes that call for it but minus the ginger. Grrr! I guess it does keep me from eating a few things I should not eat anyway:

3. Fall Baking! Love all thing pumpkin. I made pumpkin cookies last year that were a hit. Think I need to do that again. Also want to make a pumpkin cheesecake this year.

4. FOOTBALL!!!!!!! So ready for some SEC football. We are watching the first game now (Southern Miss and S. Carolina). So excited to go tailgate with the Blakes and see Bama play this year. Know that we are definitely going to go to the Florida/Bama game. So ready!!!

5. Scarves: I love scarves and have added so many to my collection this past spring and summer when they were on sale. I know I got at least 3 more and did not pay over $5 for any of them. I love how they can make jeans and a plain shirt look so different. Ready to pull them all out and wear them. Wish they went with scrubs! Ha ha!
6. Sweaters and sweat shirts: I live in them when I'm not in scrubs! I need to add some new sweaters to my wardrobe this year. We got Stephen alot of new clothes last winter. Think this may be my year. Ha ha! With my budget shopping, I could get a whole new wardrobe for less than $100. I need to start the hunt for some deals!

7: Christmas shopping: What?!?! Did I just say Christmas!??? Yes I did!! I love shopping early! Last year I was completely finished and had everything wrapped before Halloween! Seriously, it greatly decreases the stress during November and December. I can focus on baking and just enjoying the season and not rushing around buying gifts. Plus I love being able to put them all under the tree as soon as we put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. The only way to successfully shop this early is to stay very organized. You must have a list with a budget or you will forget what you bought and how much you have spent. Also, I keep the list because sometimes they are wrapped so long I forget what I have bought people. Ha! This year, I'm going to see how many gifts I can buy online to cut down on the trips to Tuscaloosa and Tupelo. I have already bookmarked several things on Etsy.com. We will see. Stephen was rolling his eyes just today when I was fretting over where we will put the tree this year since we have more furniture this year and a very heavy treadmill that Stephen said is not movable no matter how pretty it would make the tree :( Guess I need to really think it out because he says once he gets it set up, I cannot change my mind and move it. Oh well, I still have time to work out these very important details. :)

I know its a little early but, HAPPY FALL Y'ALL!!!!
